Spring 15 Expedition Hike and Camp

Stop Press! Next Camp Announced! June 6-7th

Genesis Scouts are currently working towards their Expedition Badge and over the next few weeks are busy planning and training for a two day walk in Essex over the weekend of June 6/7th including an overnight Camp at Belchamps Scout Campsite - one of our favourites.

This will be a proper expedition where Scouts navigate themselves, carry their food, share of tent, sleeping and other kit, set up camp, cook their own meal, pack up next morning and complete the second half of the walk next day carrying all their kit. It will involve a short train journey out and back again for which each scout will need to bring with them a total of £6.40 There will also be activities at Belchamps Saturday afternoon, and a campfire.

The Scouts have really enjoyed this brilliant weekend in the past with a real sense of achievement and self-reliance.

Cost is just £10.

Kit list as below and there will be a demonstration and discussion of Kit with the Scouts on Friday 8th May. Generally kit labelled as applicable for DofE is suitable. Please speak with any leader if you have any questions re kit.

  • Start: Saturday 6th of June 2015 at 08:00
  • Finish: Sunday the 7th June 2015 at 15:00
  • Location: Starting at 5th Scout hall, camping at Belchamps
  • A kit list is at the bottom of this page and will print on a separate sheet

The Cost has been reduced to just £10.00 as the troop is part funding this event for the Scouts.

Could you please fill out the form below indicating whether your Scout is or isn't interested and return it to us (It is very important that I know either way) by the 15th May. with a cheque for £10 made payable to 'Genesis Scout Troop' (or, to use our alternative payment methods, see the recent bank direct payment policy). Thank you for your speedy responses.
