Welcome to the Genesis Scout Troop home page.

Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme. "Participation" rather than meeting set standards is the key approach and for the Scout who wants to be recognized for his or her achievements there are a number of Challenges Awards and Activity Badges.

In Genesis Scouts we aim to give your child the confidence and skills to be able to operate as a key member of a team whilst at the same time teaching them independence and making them comfortable with their own self-sufficiency.

Scouts take part in a balanced programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and helps develop their creative talents.  It also provides opportunities to explore their own values, trust and personal attitudes towards honesty and truth. Being outdoors is important and much of the programme is given over to taking part in both the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as the wide range of adventurous activities, anything from abseiling to fencing and gliding to yachting .

Principles

We follow the following philosophies:

  • Abide by the Scout promise/Law
  • Live up to the Scout motto of 'Be Prepared'
  • Providing them a rounded Scouting experience through the Challenge Badges
  • Scouting is a life philosophy, not a youth club
  • Teaching them to be individually confident, yet able to work within a team
  • Specialisation in mountain activities
  • Involving the Parents/Guardians as much as is possible
